TRHS AD

Twin Ridges Home Study Charter School has been a leader of the personalized learning movement for over thirty years. As one of California’s first K-8 Independent Study Charter Schools, TRHS continues to support students with an innovative approach to meeting academic core standards. By offering students individual time with credentialed teachers, a generous educational budget, and a flexible enrichment program, TRHS encourages students to explore their passion for learning while focusing on the practical applications of sustainable arts and sciences. At TRHS, teachers and the community work collaboratively to create an environment where every child’s unique skill set can be accessed, developed and refined.

TRHS alumni are prepared to achieve success in conservatories, professional athletics and performance, agricultural institutes and vocational guilds as well as traditional high schools and colleges. Dynamic in nature and centered on themes of environmental and cultural sustainability, TRHS offers students exposure to global and local perspectives by participating in workshops with field experts, community artisans and visiting lecturers and performers.

Twin Ridges Home Study Charter School provides students a free, public education alternative in Nevada, Placer, Sierra and Yuba Counties. TRHS learning centers are located in Nevada City, Truckee and Wheatland/Beale AFB. Each site facilitates parent-teacher meetings, access to extensive resource collections and enrichment opportunities. Frequent field trips, exciting social and cultural events and a resourceful staff provide TRHS students and families with the opportunity to broaden the boundaries of their entire education experience. Home Study Trails

We have created three different Home Study Trails. The Trails are devised to better assist students, parents and teachers (or learning team) in personalizing each student’s learning experience. These Trails provide curricula and enrichment opportunities based on the educational budget per semester that is available for each student. Every option encompasses opportunities for students to socialize at school-wide gatherings. Additionally, all TRHS students are welcome to actively participate in school clubs, attend special guest workshops, events and performances. Each Trail offers the learning team a variety of ways to tailor home learning to suit the needs of each student. All TRHS “Trailblazers” have unrestricted access to our extensive lending library and access to our growing collection of online resources.
